Research Training

-         Clinical and basic research projects are available to trainees working closely with a faculty mentor of the trainee’s choice.

-         Our faculties are recognized for particular expertise in clinical and experimental renal nutrition, glomerulonephritis, epidemiology, cardiovascular risk factors in chronic kidney disease, genetics of diabetic nephropathy and chronic kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy pathophysiology and novel treatment, tubulointerstitial fibrosis, and renal growth factors and cytokines as they relate to renal hemodynamics, renal hypertrophy, and the progression of renal disease.

-         Use of state of the art techniques in clinical trials, epidemiologic analytic strategies, in-vivo and in-vitro experimental models and settings including genetically modified mouse models using cell and molecular biological methods.

-         It is strongly advised that applicants committed to a career in academic medicine spend a minimum of two years in research training.

-         Availability of a third year of fellowship devoted to research is dependent upon the motivation of the applicant, the productivity of that individual during the previous year, and the availability of funding.
